This set of songs includes some of Jenny's first professional recordings providing the listener with an appreciation of her early efforts and insight into her development as a singer/songwriter. These songs show a young artist with a willingness to explore pop music from different angles offering a more complete perception of Jenny as an artist and a writer.

Notes from the artist:

These recordings vary in production value, performance quality and style.  However, I feel that each of these songs possesses some unique quality that has stayed with me over the years.  Dats and CDs have been gathering dust in my closet and after listening to a few of them I decided to make some available to my fans.  I, personally, always find it interesting to listen to an artist's demo recordings.  It allows you to witness an evolution in writing, vocal technique and style as well as gain a more complete picture of the artist's perspective and vision.

Different versions of some of these songs made it onto records, others did not.  You be the judge of why... In the past I have chosen to reveal only my most polished and refined work and I hope to maintain that standard for my upcoming release.  However, I feel it is of interest to share some of the behind-the-scenes process that leads to the final products.  Some of these songs were the result of "demo" deals with major labels.

1. These songs are from a session produced by Harvey Goldberg at Sorcerer Recording Studios, NYC for Virgin Records. Performing are me, Steve Quinn on guitar, Keith Carroll on upright bass and the legendary Danny Gottlieb on drums.

China Doll
Easy Come, Easy Go
Worth Fighting For
Living Room

2. This batch of songs was very casually recorded live with a few vocal overdubs in Atlantic's studios for Lava Atlantic Records. Peforming are me, Steve Quinn on guitar and Josh Neretin on percussion as well as Andy Karp of Lava Records on bass.

Come Closer
The Edge
Lucky Penny

3. The following tracks were produced by Julian Harris who co-produced my first album.  These start sounding a little more like me now. I think I and Julian played all instruments on these tracks.

Human Condition
NYC Valentine
Happy Song
Heaven.com
Anybody Out There

4. These are some of my very first demos. Self-produced at Westrax Recording Studios in NYC in 1993 or thereabouts...Me on piano (before I could even play guitar!), Steve Quinn on guitar and Jennifer Vincent on upright bass.

Late Train
Green & Gold

5. Bill Fuller recorded these bucket drums in an open-air garage in Jersey City, NJ. The bucket drummer goes by the name "Chocolate" and at one time was featured in the critically acclaimed show Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk

Elijah

If you like these tracks I will continue to dig through my closet and come up with some more : )  So much hard work, energy, time and money went into making these demos that I thought it was sad for them to be lost forever in the shadows nestled amid the dust-bunnies.

I hope you enjoy these songs in the spirit in which they were recorded. The spirit of discovery and evolution and creative expression.

FAQ
From Webmaster Tim Connelly)

1) How does this work?

Downloading songs isn't all that difficult. That's why the recording industry is going bonkers and trying to prosecute some of the worst downloading offenders: it's so easy that millions of dollars in lost revenues are costing the record industry big time. But if you've never done this before, it's a bit of a challenge. I'll be just as clear as I can and talk you through the process.
Do you have a dial up connection? It'll take longer to download the songs if you do. You can download the songs during a time when you're not using the computer so you can walk away and do something else. There is no better time to download than while you're sleeping. Downloading all 14 songs will take approximately 3 hours depending on your connection speed and less than 20 minutes if you have a cable modem. The biggest problem that most people have with downloading is not taking note of where they've downloaded their music files to. It really doesn't matter where you download to, you just need to know exactly where you have to go so you can retrieve your songs. Be sure to note which drive you download the songs to and which folder.

2) What if it doesn't play?

You need to have an MP3 player on your computer. If you don't, now's a good time to get one. Windows Media Player works well enough and like a lot of MP3 players, is free.

3) What if I can't get it to play?

Send me your address and I'll send you a CD! Anybody who pays will get to play.

4) Speaking of payment, how do I pay for this?

PayPal is a very easy online way of paying for something via a credit card or checking account. With PayPal I will get paid almost immediately and will be notified via email and send you the password to get into the download site. The payment is $13.88 for downloading and $18.99 for a CD. The reason it costs more for a CD is I have to burn it, put it in a CD case, and mail it off to you. There are also shipping and handling costs. I want to encourage downloading as much as possible!

5) If I pay for the CD, can I still download the songs?

Yes!

6) Can I share my password with other people?

Please don't do that!

7) What kind of support do you give?

Hey I'll email you or even talk you through it over the phone if necessary. We'll try to get this done as simply as possible and have you listening to these new songs as soon as possible.

8) How soon after I pay will I be getting the password?

Please call me at
910-622-0412 and I will send you the download key immediately.
